At the Water Shed, we have done many automation projects from simple to complex. Most involve the monitoring of water treatment systems. Data features can include email alerts, sensor logging, pilot plant research projects, multi-system sequencing, and the automatic generation of daily or monthly reports. Operational features can include PID feedback control loops for pH control or water blending. User interfaces can use touchscreen displays, or be blind units that are controlled from the users cell phone.
Automation is best when it simplifies routine requirements such as data collection. When the requirements are simple, the standard relay logic passive component solutions can be implemented.
